The Apex Youth forum is a new initiative in the year 07/08.
It consists of a committee comprised of a young Apexians, a representative from each state. The committee will be facilitated by the National Deputy Youth Manager Odette Suitor.
Some ideas the forum will explore:
• Work life balance, friendship, volunteering that is associated with fun and making a difference in the community.
• The ability to inspire, provide leadership, citizenship, community service and volunteering for Youth today.
Some mediums this will occur through:
• Involvement in National Youth Week.
• Organising Youth specific events.
• Establish a youth mentor program to assist young people in gaining employment.
• “Finding Your Feet” orientation program for country kids who have recently moved to the city.
• Raise awareness of issues that effect youth.
• Help young people develop advanced skills in volunteering.
Benefits for youth in the community:
• Enable youth to be able to see the “direct impact” of their contribution.
• An appealing aspect of volunteering is that an individual can take the initiative and receive immediate personal satisfaction and recognition.
• Gaining “personal satisfaction” and “being available to help out”.
• Networking, socialising, skills development and witnessing real outcomes.
• Meeting different people.
• Learn how to interact with people.
• Enjoy a new learning experience
• It is good for your career.
• Doing something better for your community.
• Develop personal growth, confidence, career opportunities, pride, sense of achievement.

Details of the representatives on the committee are still to come.
