2010 NSW/ACT State Convention and State Training Seminar

On behalf of the Narromine Apex Club, It is with pleasure that I invite the Apex Clubs of NSW/ACT and all other States to the 2009/10 NSW/ACT State convention and STS in Narromine.
LET ME AGAIN REMIND YOU. The STS and Convention will be held between;Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March 2010. Planning is well underway.
The United Memorial Services Club (UMSC) venue is booked and catering organised for the Saturday STS and Convention lunch and gala dinner. Catering and babysitting for children is organised so that it becomes a family weekend. There will be four aspects to the convention weekend.
1) A family theme and Apexians will be encouraged to bring their families to experience the Dubbo zoo, Parkes telescope, the Iris Farm, Aviation museum and much much more.
2) The State convention – obviously the business session.
3) The STS and District Governor training
4) A State Presidents reunion dinner
The theme” Come soaring with us” You guessed it!!
The theme chosen for the convention is based around aviation, and we have organised the opportunity to go gliding throughout the weekend, Narromine is world known for its gliding and the Junior World Gliding titles have just been held, so yes we can carter for the best.
The outline of the weekend, which is subject to change, is a follows;
Friday 19th March
Morning activities
- The State Board will arrive Thursday evening
- NSW/ACT State Board meeting at the Narromine Shire Council Chambers from 9.00am. Morning tea will be supplied and lunch at the renowned ROYAL HOTEL across the road
- Afternoon gliding flights for the State Board late afternoon
- Evening activities
- Social welcome at the Narromine Aero Club, A BBQ dinner will be supplied and cooked as delegates arrive and will be available to late to accommodate people travelling
- Apexian public speaking at the Narromine Aero Club.
- Alcohol will be available through the Narromine Aero Club at very reasonable prices
Saturday 20th March the big dayNon Delegates
- Own arrangements for an early morning breakfast then off to Dubbo for a visit to the zoo, if there is enough interest we will organise feeding the animals at the zoo for the family in the morning (this is at cost and the zoo are working a deal for Apex as this is being prepared). Lunch will be at Dubbo and a quick look at the Dubbo goal then an easy afternoon tour from Dubbo down the Newell to the Parkes telescope and return to Narromine for gala black tie dinner
(This would include the State President reunion; however they will partake in a winery tour outside the zoo visit) Convention Delegates
- Convention business at the Narromine UMSC
- Junior and High School public speaking final between convention and STS to ensure all delegates get to witness the public speaking
- Gala black tie dinner in the evening at Narromine and State awards
- Entertainment and dancing to closure
- Party back at the motel
The Kids club
- Following a day at the zoo and telescope, a kids club is being set up for the family in an adjacent auditorium, baby sitters are arranged to look after the kids, a party atmosphere will be set up and a DVD to settle them down for the evening.
STS and DG training·
At this stage there has been no arrangements for DG training, however provision has been made to cater for training should it be required·
President. Secretary and Treasure training is organised but this will be subject to numbers·
STS will comprise of a subject called “Bump in – Bump out” from the nationally recognised Cert IV “Event Management” with all attendees being provided with a certificate of attainment as formal certification at the completion of the course.
Sunday 21st March· Breakfast (own arrangements)·
Tour of the Narromine aero museum and Wright Flyer replica and Alpaca farm Merchandise
- A special convention polo shirt will be available and is $40 along with other memorabilia
CostA firm cost is the registration as set within the state budget
- The cost of the convention as set by the State Board budget is $130.
- The cost of the zoo is still being negotiated at this stage and will be in addition to the convention cost.
- The cost of the tour to the telescope is free and the travel cost is being investigated pending bus hire etc.(in particular the bus from the Central Coast)
Accommodation. Please book early – when booking quote “APEX”
- The motels have blocked out the weekend for Apex and it will be up to individuals to book their accommodation.
- Accommodation has been booked for the Board at the Peppercorn Motel which is walking distance (well a few blocks) from the UMSC and the Aero-club and the Junior and Senior public speakers have been booked into the Stockman Motel.
- Accommodation is at the cost for people attending the convention.
Taxi Service
- Narromine has a good reliable taxi service and a maxi-cab is available for group travel
Well guys, in true Apex terms it is going to be hard to get members to this event based on the past few years, and the club needs to have the support of EVERY APEX CLUB in NSW/ACT. Narromine Apex Club are trying to keep cost to minimum so that you come and enjoy a great social weekend with memories to last a life time, and bring back a family element to Apex.
